Special Workshops

Along with becoming skilled in regulating mental and physical comfort while flying, clarifying misconceptions and learning the facts about various aspects of air travel can contribute to confidence. The following workshops, presented by professionals from key areas of the flight industry are designed to meet that goal.

Quiet Flying 2.0

This hour-long workshop for those completing the Core QF Course is an opportunity for graduates to interact and review QF strategies that were helpful and refine flight management skills.

A Pilot’s Perspective

This hour-long workshop represents an opportunity to learn about aerodynamics, pilot training, safety measures and unique flying events. A “Q & A” period will give participants a chance to address special concerns.

The Nuts and Bolts of Maintenance

This hour-long workshop will cover an area not often directly reviewed. How are aircraft consistently kept flight worthy, what are the training requirements for Techs, what are safety redundancies and what computer systems track service histories and alerts? An aircraft maintenance professional will answer these questions.

Keeping Everything Straight

At any given point in time, there are thousands of large commercial, regional and general aircraft aloft. With 500 major airports and over 5000 smaller airports, how is it all kept routinely organized? An Air Traffic Controller will review the systems and backups designed to integrate flight traffic and ground movements at airports during this hour-long workshop.

Getting Organized to Fly

Getting the word to “get on the next flight to... ASAP” alerts us to the basics for getting out of town. But the “devil is in the details” which we learn after we have landed. This workshop led by a Travel Consultant will review tips for being well prepared for a comfortable flight and a variety of activities upon arrival. Navigating various airports, efficient packing, helpful new products and managing transportation are among the topics reviewed.

Aeronautical Adjustment

While achieving emotional comfort is a key to adapting to an environment we aren’t inherently ready for, true aeronautical adjustment inevitably also involves a number of physical adjustments. This hour-long workshop, led by a medical specialist, will address physical changes associated with flying, & strategies for enhancing comfort and managing symptoms.

Commuting by Helicopter

Generally not a customary mode of travel but this mode of flying provides the speed and access other forms of travel can’t match. This workshop helps orient participants to what makes helicopter flying unique, the best way to adapt to this form of travel, how pilots are trained and helicopters maintained. A helicopter pilot will provide this important orientation.

Training and Consultation

Training and Consultation are available to businesses and organizations incorporating the QF principles and strategies found effective in making air travel more relaxing and trip outcomes more productive and enjoyable.
